School Goverance

School Board

The school is governed by a board chaired by the Bishop of Freetown, The Right Reverend Thomas Arnold Wilson.

The board comprises representatives from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Freetown City Council, Annie Walsh Old Girls Association, and Community Teachers’ Organisation.

The Annie Walsh School Board plays a crucial role in the governance and strategic direction of the school. It ensures that the institution operates in accordance with the Basic and Senior Secondary Education Act of Sierra Leone. The Board is responsible for overseeing the school’s adherence to national educational policies and ensuring that the education standards meet local and international expectations.

Comprised of key stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, and community representatives, the Board works collaboratively to make important decisions about the school’s operations, curriculum, and development. It ensures that the school maintains high standards of academic excellence, promotes student well-being, and provides a safe and supportive learning environment for all pupils.

In line with the provisions of the Education Act, the Annie Walsh School Board also ensures that the school adheres to the national curriculum guidelines, promotes inclusive education, and fosters an environment where students can excel academically and socially. The Board’s efforts are pivotal in ensuring that the school continues to deliver quality education that prepares students for future success in alignment with national educational goals.

Community Teacher Organisation

The Community Teacher Association (CTA) at the Annie Walsh School plays a vital role in fostering a strong partnership between the school, parents, and the wider community.

Representing the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), the CTA brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including local community members, the East End Police, the Local Councillor, Church of the Holy Trinity and dedicated parents.

Through collaboration, the CTA works to support the school’s educational mission, enhance student learning, and strengthen community ties.

By engaging in regular discussions and initiatives, the CTA helps ensure that Annie Walsh School remains a nurturing and thriving environment for all students.
