School Sports

Annie Walsh School is proud to have six vibrant sports houses, each named in honour of a distinguished former principal.

These houses play a central role in fostering school spirit, teamwork, and healthy competition among students.

The houses compete throughout the year in various athletic events, promoting physical fitness, leadership, and collaboration.

The six houses, named after the school’s influential principals, are:

Sass 1849 – 1869

Caspari 1875 – 1878

Dunkley 1889 – 18794

Bisset 1894 – 1917

Hamblet 1927 – 1930

Pole 1930 – 1954

Each house is led by a team of student leaders who encourage participation and motivate their peers to excel in the school’s annual sports events, including track and field, relay races, and other athletic challenges.

The competitive yet supportive environment these houses create instils values of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and school pride.
