School Band

The school launched the first all-female school band in Sierra Leone in 1989 during the school’s Annual Speech Day and Prizegiving Ceremony.

The Annie Walsh School Band is a dynamic and talented group that brings music to life within the school community. It comprises students from various grade levels and offers a wide range of musical experiences, including instrumental performance, music theory, and group collaboration.

Students in the band are taught how to play their instruments and work together as a team to create harmonious and powerful performances. The band’s repertoire spans various genres, allowing students to develop their musical skills while exploring different styles of music.

In addition to regular rehearsals and performances, the band participates in school events, concerts, and inter-school music festivals, where they have the opportunity to showcase their talent and represent the school with pride. Through these experiences, students not only gain confidence in their musical abilities but also learn important values like discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

The Annie Walsh School Band plays an integral role in the school’s cultural life, enriching the community with the joy and power of music.
